Florida fisherman, Don’t Mess with the Manatee!

Louis Tornas Perez (49), was fishing on Long Key at the 55-mile mark when he spotted 16 manatees mating. According to reports, Tornas perez splashed water on the manatees instead of leaving them alone, as required by state law. According to the Miami Herald,

Tornas Perez, a second-degree offense, was charged. He was taken to the plantation key prison. According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission, Tornas Perez was caught after “slapping in water,” which is an illegal act.

State law prohibits the feeding of manatees. It is also illegal to make excessive noises or splash water, which is considered an offense.
