(CNN) Five teens who mocked a drowning person by recording the death of a man in Florida won’t be charged since they weren’t required by law to aid.
Police have said that a video taken in July of teens aged between 14 to 19 laughing as Jamel Dunn 31, 31 struggled to keep his balance in a pond close to the family’s Cocoa home.
The teens mocked the victim and said that he’d “die” and said that they would not assist the man. Instead, they laughed while they captured the final moments of the victim and posted the video on YouTube.
Following an interview during a subsequent interview, the teens admitted that they had been “smoking weed,” police stated.
Cocoa Police Department Cocoa Police Department has advised the state attorney’s office to indict the police department with not reporting deaths.
The prosecutors had announced this week the organization wouldn’t be pursued.
