A Florida man has dubbed himself “The Beast” after he was able to fend off an intruder, and took drastic action to hold him back until police arrived.

Richard Golden of Jacksonville was at home with his family as he heard his glass breaking. The man who was there who was carrying a gun smashed through the glass sliding door of his home and demanded cash.

But Golden says he didn’t give up. He stood firm.

“He hit me on the head with a gun and my buddy came up just in time and distracted him,” Golden said. “And when he distracted him, I made my move, grabbed him and locked the gun.”

Golden said to WJXT that he threw the man who was then identified later by the name of Timothy Hinson, in the castle. He then swung his fingers in the eyes of the man as close as could.

“I dropped the clip because I had military training, then there was another one in my cell,” Golden stated. “It worked. I was sure that I wasn’t dead. I knew I wasn’t shot. Then the military training started and I wentuged his eyes.

But Golden didn’t give up. He ensured that Hinson was not able to be able to escape before the arrival of the authorities.

“I sat on him and stuck his eyes through until the cops came,” the man said. “I took his own pistol from him by beating him.”

Golden still had cuts on his hands following the fight. Golden also lost one of his dogs, who was able to escape from the fight.

He said to WJXT that he was unsure the reason he was targeted and claimed that he’d never met Hinson in his entire life.

Hinson was treated for medical issues and was detained.
