The man was 23 years old and admitted to police that he smashed the ATM to get excessive cash, was taken into custody after bank officials stated that the attack did at most $5,000 in damages.
Cocoa police charged Michael Joseph Olexic from Merritt Island on Friday , of misconduct in the criminal justice system for almost an entire month in the course of investigating violence in the Wells Fargo branch at 834 N. Cocoa Boulevard, Cocoa.
Police said surveillance footage showed Oleksik sitting at an ATM on the 29th of November and striking an electronic touchscreen used by cashiers.
Then Oleksik apologised and phoned the bank and told to the bank manager that he had threw a rock at the ATM because it was “angry because the ATM was granting the bank too much cash and he wasn’t sure which way to go,” as the records indicate. Oleksik added that the ATM was not working and he needed to get back to work, and apologized for causing damage to the ATM of the bank.
Wells Fargo contacted the Cocoa Police Department and requested to make charges. Olexik was detained on Friday and was taken into the Brevard County jail complex in Sharps.
